Some photographs have highlights intentionally smothered for impact. Some like this style. This should be possible in Photoshop with this instructional exercise.  This is the impact I am talking about. Step 1 : I have opened this free stock photograph which you will discover here . It has a place with 

Step 2 : Press CTRL+J to copy the Background Layer. Layer 1 frames. 

Step 3 : Press CTRL+SHIFT+U to desperate the picture. 

Step 4 : Press 4 on the console and Photoshop decreases the Opacity of Layer 1 to 40%.
